The NHRA US Nationals put on a spectacular Labor Day show that saw upsets, first-time winners, and the NHRA Countdown field set.
Capacity crowds were treated to great weather and the best the NHRA had to offer this weekend at the US Nationals. The last event before the countdown had several drivers with their last chance to secure a shot at the 2016 NHRA Championship.
The US Nationals is a four-day extravaganza showcasing the best the NHRA has to offer. With the TRAXXAS Shootout on Saturday and Sunday, there were lots of Wally’s to take home. Indy brings out the best in the NHRA, and this Labor Day was no exception.
The raw emotion from the drivers and crews on display showed how important the US Nationals is to the competitors. With the countdown staring everyone in the face, this was the last chance for some to get their seasons on track. For others, it was an opportunity to show that they are going to be a hard out every time they pull up to the tree.
We also saw the return of Alexis Dejoria coming back from her hip injury to try and lock her place in the countdown at The Go. Could Leah Pritchett with all her struggles of 2016 lock herself in and head to Charlotte in the countdown with a shot at an improbable 2016 title with her third team of the season.
