Nostalgia Eliminator 1, or NE-1 as it is often referred to had a large field, approx. 30 entries this year, from Canada, Washington, Arizona, Nevada and California. Running against the 7.60 index, the quickest 15 ran from 7.600 to 7.691…a competitive group.
On the way to the event championship Bernie Plourd trailered John Brewer in round one, with a 7.631 to a 7.747, next up was Sabrina Pecora who broke out; third round Bernie faced Dustin Lee, Bernie cutting a .47 light, while Dustin recorded a -.003, sending Lee home, although the NHRA Heritage Series Championship went home with him.
Fourth round Plourd faced Lloyd Harder, who fouled out, while Jim Seivers, who had qualified #13, took down Dave Lawson, the #1 qualifier of the event, setting the stage for the final, which saw Bernie Plourd run a 7.437 to Sievers -.011 fouling red light, giving Plourd the 2018 27th Annual California Hot Rod Reunion Championship…
