The Rocky Mountain Nationals held last weekend at Castrol Raceway was filled with action. Fifteen cars showed for the 6.90 Alky class with Cal Tebb 6.93 #1……four cars in the 6’s…….6 cars in the 7.0’s……the next 4 closed at 7.26 & Courtney Mageau #15 after her shift light didn’t come on with motor damage 8.22. First round got off before the rain.
Pro Nitro Dragster bikes had an 8 bike show with A Miles 7.63 #1. Only 7 bikes ran round one before the rain.
Nitro Harley only had 4 bikes run with Jay Turner #1 6.43. After round one, the final will be Turner & Boyer at a future time. There were a couple more bikes, but no riders due to work & other issues.
Pro mod had 10 cars show to try & get in the 8 car field. Garret Richards at 6.15 was #1 & 2 of the 4 pairs got in before the rain.
Nitro Funny Car was a bit short also as to many races all in a row & some wanting to go to Mission for points toward the season end. Even tho the purse was very good. Ryan Hodgson was #1 at 5.73. First round will be at a future date due to the rain.
TAD…….one blown car & 3 Nitro was G Gingles #1 at 5.42. To be run at a future date.
Fuel Altereds were Nanook, Bradford, Rat Trap & Red Dragon. Tom Padilla ran an out of the box 6.00 his best ever to take the lead. They made 3 sets of runs with wheelies & plenty of wall to wall action.
Bruce Litton ran his Big Show dragster against Gary Densham’ funny car 3 times. First time out Bruce Litton banged the blower at the hit. Best for them was Bruce 5.07 over Gary’s 5.17 in the 3rd time out. David Fedorwich ran his Big Show dragster against the double plug double mag fuel altered of J Duchene also in a few rounds.
A jet dragster & jet truck were the closers each night. All in all a great weekend of action.
